I got me a job for the summer (yeah I'm a million years old but I went back to university last year) doing web programming for some folks. This comes with certain inbuilt advantages - specifically that I can work from home, working online with other team members in Birmingham, Thailand... pretty much all over. This is clearly a beautiful thing, and here are my top ten reasons why:

10: I can ask the cat for advice.
9: I have no-one breathing down my neck, all that matters is results, not process.
8: I'm responsible entirely for my own work environment.
7: I can listen to loud music.
6: I get to drink good tea, rather than whatever crap comes out of a machine.
5: I don't have to get out of bed until just before I start working.
4: Using the laptop, I don't even have to get out of bed if I don't feel like it.
3: I don't have to go outside to smoke - unless I want a spot of "air".
2: I can eat the things in my fridge whenever I please.

I could go on. But the BEST, number one reason why working at home is SO great...

1: * Nobody knows I'm naked.*

Now that, fellow Deviants, is freedom. That's the kind of freedom I'd go to war for. Fuck oil, screw human rights, stick regime change where the sun don't shine - but the freedom to work naked and nobody know about it one way or the other? That is some pretty special freedom. Hell, I don't even have to be naked - I could be wearing a gimp mask and a tutu - it matters not one whit. Superb.
